Fantasy Con 2014

We were really surprised how well Fantasy Con did over the 4th of July weekend. I think it had a really distinct atmosphere from Comic Con, whereas Comic Con’s FanX just felt like Diet Comic Con. The Society for Creative Anachronism was there managing an archery range and a battle ground for fencing and general horsing around. I have a history of dressing up and hitting friends with sticks, so I’m a little biased. As an adult, I thought all the men in semi-historical armor in front of cheering crowds really helped create an appropriate atmosphere for the convention. As a child, I would have gone bananas for a reason to rough house with sticks.

All that aside, we know what you really came for; the cosplay.

Cosplay pros Lindsay Elyse as Cersei Lannister and Stella Chuu as Melisandre, Sad Cloud in drag, and a friendly Toothless.

The Sanderson Sisters, Hellboy (Mom) and an awesome, unicorn-slaying barbarian.

Zell from Asana Natural Arts makes great jewelry from real butterfly wings and Bonnie from The Pink Castle makes cute character hats.
